I need cover for insurance for 2 weeks max, I found that any temporary cover to be a little costly and most do not cover modified cars. There isn't anything to stop me from getting a normal 12 month policy out and cancelling it 2 weeks later? Obviously there would be admin fee and I would be charged for the 2 weeks of insurance. Would this be right?

Don't plan too (touch wood), but thats what the insurance is there for. Did you get a mininium charge or anything? Or was it just the admin fee and 14 days insurance you were charged for? Who were you insured with by the way?
