The girlf's corsa (1994) has failed her MOT, and two of the points are on the rear brakes:

Service brake efficiency below requirements [3.7.A.8] (46% efficiency)

Parking brake efficiency below requirements [3.7.A.8] (6% efficiency )

any idea what this could be? Rear Shoes? Handbrake just need adjusting? answers very helpful!

Handbrake might be stretched so tightning that or maybe a new one.

Like what was said, just whip the wheels off, check the brakes and give them abit of a clean, bleed them if you think that could be the problem.
