If i sell my car i will be looking for a newish car, been looking at new corsas and astras.
on the astra is there anything that i should know about that would not make me want to buy it. i'm looking at 1.4/1.6 or cdti 2006 onwards. I want a 3 door design spec or something similar.

they are all slow except the 1.9 cdti's and the 2.0t/vxr
example - the 1.8 sxi in say a 03 reg astra (mk4) is about 2 secs quicker to 60 than the new one!

They have been facelifted. If you aren't bothered about that, I'm sure you could pic up the 1st lot at bargain prices.
Diesel engines are 1.3CDTi's (facelift), 1.7CDTi (pre & post facelift, different engines, pre-facelift = 100bhp unit found in Corsa C iirc), 1.9CDTi in a range of BHP's.
Petrols range from 1.4 up to 2.0T SRi's.

the corsa D 1.3cdti comes to vauxhall from fiat with a head gasket that need to be replaced by the dealership before it leaves...
