My mate bought a silverline version of this a while back and has been using it as a PC to do minor aint correction on his car with good results, with a good set of pads to go on it obvoiusly.

seen this one so i mite try it out as it appears to be a bit better made.

I havent used it but gave it a good looking over instore, feels well made tbh, solid, good handle positions, easy button access, 3 year warranty. comes with a few extras aswell

Its a orbital not a rotary just to let you know

6 speeds range from 4000rpm-to a paint burning 11000rpm.

Perkins also do a similar one in B&Q, its a bit cheaper and i have had a perkins jigsaw for a couple of years now and that has never broke.

You probably don't want to be using a da sander for compound polishing.

It shoud be fine for mild correction, i only really want something in the case of scratches and mild swirls.

Though its a sander, a porter cable is a sander first and polisher second, the Meguiars g220 has basically come from the porter cable.

The megs g220 run at upto 7000rpm so this sander on low setting wont even be running near that

But the Meguair's polisher only orbits about one axis.

how much was it. silverline do them for about 30-40 for a machine polisher. I got one and its fine for a bit of DIY.

you can get them for £20, but being an orbital sander, it has random orbits the same as the G220 so there is little heat build up makeing it safer for the paint,

The rotaries take practice, and even with practice you can still make a mistake and mess your paint up

I was fine just leave it at low speed untill you feel you can cope with it. i saw good results.

we use orbital sanders at work for trisacking 1500 pads but ya should still have to use a proper polisher with polishing head to get a good shiny finish
