More and more i look at my car recently and think the front wheels look a bit pants with there big 195/50 R16 balloon tyres. 17s would wear a 205/40 so less tyre and more wheel as it is now-

edit - crap pic

Weight is one factor, but the main one is tyre stiffness.

There is a science behind it as they come with this configuaration as standard I supose to aid turn in and create some element of understeer.

they come with 17s standard to make it understeer, but the standard 17s are like 5.5j wide with a 175 tyre. Weight wont be noticable i dont think.

With me going back to being a scummy student i wont be doing anymore trackdays for a while, so yeah its just for asthetics but unless its horrendusly bad i cant see me caring that much.

It looks 'right'. No real need to alter the proportions. And I guess it drives well now?

id stick with what you got, low profile tyres on uk roads sucks ass, i would give it a about week before you want to take them off again.you can feel every tiny bump in the road and think you have broken a wheel everytime you go over a pot hole.
