Knees is a location for lots of movement, your joints will no doubt create heat/energy as they move.

My entire body is cold at the minute apart from my forehead. Think i may be coming down with something. Hence i found my knees to be a little warm

You need to lubricate them.

Attach a grease gun to the nipples and fill them with thick grease, you'll find they don't overheat so much then.
