used to love porsches but now i se them all day long at work dont think they are much cop but then ya we do get the odd special one in we have a played with gt2 running around 650bhp at the moment and thats awesome had 2 356s in a while ago uber old school cool nicest so far was a 956 and the carrera gt awesome piece of kit

The older porsches were the best... looks and character wise anyway.
My dad had a 964 then a 993 C2S. Now he has a 993 Turbo and i fucking love it!

A 996 for under 20k will be turd, most under 25k will be turd. I wouldn't mind a GT3 or a Tubby next, but I fancy the Italian option really 
Edit - I WILL certainly buy a 1960s/70s 911 at some point I just love them, so basic and yet so sophisticated..

As nik, certainly any under £20k will be crap.
Plus the purchase price might be cheap, but the running costs will be just as much as when it was new!

I wouldn't have thought running costs to be particularly scary IMO. Depends what your used to of course, but will be cheaper than most rival models..
