I have got some 405 Mi16 wheels in need a a refurb...

Any tips on how to do this? I.E. best way to remove paint etc?

Sand the paint back, if its really bad get them blasted or nitmores.
From bare alloy you'll want a coat of etch primer before you use high build primer on therm.

what grit sand paper?

i have just finished doing mine, i flatted back with a 600 grit wet, then primered using halfords filler primer, 1200grit wet to flat back then spray and laquer
