As a few of you may know i work for Fiat/Alfa Romeo.

Now they do staff deals and i could get a brand new 1.4 t jet grande with about 25% off.. the retail is usually £13,000+ and id be getting it for just over £9000..

I would also be paying that off over 3 years..

Im very tempted by this and im ready to put down a deposit

The benefits i can think of are obviously the discount but also 3 years warranty, the fact that its brand new and everything works, i work in parts so i can pretty much get anything at cost price, i work with mechanics who specialise in the brand, the insurance for a 1.4 turbo is very good seeing as i have 0 ncb..

but a couple of guys are trying to talk me out of it.. theyre saying its alot of money, ill regret it when the novelty of it being new wears off, theres better cars out there for the money.. why dont i get a loan and buy a secondhand a3 etc..

There is a second option though.. i can afford to xe the corsa but im worried about reliabilty issues and general maintenance.. my corsa is p reg which is what.. 1997.. 11 years old? its by no means perfect its had 68,000 miles of use, it would also be twice as much to insure for everyday use.. theres also mot's to get through.. but id benefit from owning it and by not being held in a finance agreement for 3 years..

so what does everyone think?

What interest rate is on the staff deal? And over how long?

If you can get that brand new and the 25% is really a discount from what they sell at and not just rrp and possibly 0% finance i'd go for it.

You can always buy a faster/higher specced car if you go older but then you have an old car.

iirc its 4% and over 3 years.. the monthly payments were 280 a month to own the car based on a 500 pound deposit..

if i was to go ahead with it then id probably pay 1000 pound deposit instead..

i also need to check the percentage as i think fiat may be offering 0% now

Work out how much you'll pay back in total, see what other cars are available for the same money

Can't you get a company vehicle? Or is it not car sales?

i think i got my prices a bit wrong thinking about it..

i have my price booklet infront of me.. but its aprils so could be slightly out..

the basic price is 10,055.96 and then you have tax and on the road costs which takes it up to 12,405otr without metallic..

diesel is 13,450 otr

then i get 25% which is something like 9569.22 otr..

also the diesel and tjet are both the highest spec (sporting) and the only difference is the engine.
