I got charged an overdraft fee on one of my Lloyds accounts last week. I didn't know anything about it, until I read a letter that I recieved from them yesterday saying I was overdrawn by 96p to which they have given me a nice little charge for £57. This isn't what pisses me off though. It's the fact that I will be getting charged £6 a day until I pay off the charge in full, and cos my cock-arse of a bank is only open Mon-Fri, 9am-4.30pm, I'm at work before they open and after they close.
I'm lucky because I managed to do a bank transfer from one of my other accounts, but what would I of been able to do if I never had another account? Banks have it easy IMO. Open 5 days a week (sometimes 4) and no-ones ever there after 4.30. Wankers
By the way, 96 fucking pence.

you can do that? I made the guy work out how much overdraft fees I have paid since 2005, and he hit me with a figure I was expecting tbh.

Just wait until the test case goes through, then you should hopefully be able to reclaim it all back again.

It was when I was a student, and I had 3 different accounts. One of them should of been a student account with a £1000 overdraft (interest free) but it was not. I got charged over and over for what I had, and I usually only had enough to pay the charge for the month because I worked shitty hours around uni and looking after my brother.
Haven't been in overdraft since 2006, and now I get charged for being 96p overdrawn on an account that should of had at least at tenner in it

It's not as easy as that sometimes though, my current account only has money in it the day before my insurance payment goes out, as the money is transferred in from another account.
The payment goes out on the 30th of the month, so on the 29th, the money goes in.
That's fine, except for in February, when I was charged £30 for an unpaid direct debit, then a further £42 for going into my overdraft, which then meant that I had to find £72 extra to put in the account to stop it happening the following month
If I'd not managed to borrow the £72, I'd still be in a constant loop of not being out of my overdraft, every month, just getting further and further in to debt when the bank charge whatever TF they want for something which doesn't cost them a penny.

You get charged for going into your overdraft? I get charged like 20p or something when i do that.
I must admit that i'm constantly in my overdraft down to bad planning. But i never go over my agreed overdraft as that's just silly.

I worded it wrong I meant 'going overdrawn', not 'going into my overdraft' I no longer have an overdraft.

If you've only had that one charge in the recent future, they will usually take it off. It is a bastard when they charge you, but essentially it's not your money, so either they charge you for it, or it's theft Plus you will always have a phone number to call for your branch if you'd like me to get that Tomorrow?

This is what i have an overdraft in place for. I plan to save money and then get stung with a bill or repair. Gets paid off 1st of the month when i'm paid.

i had a similar thing with the royal mail, had to pay a charge of £1.02p for an underpiad item, i paid it and by the time it came i had missed the wedding the invitation had had inviting me, the thing that pisses me off even more was the fact £1 was just a charge so they did all that for the sake of 3 pence. Funny thing was since it was an invitarion all of them were under paid and loads of people missed the wedding reception
also got charged 10 interest on account and then got a bank charge because the account had no money as it wasnt being used wankers
