3 questions really:
What are peoples opinions on these?
Does anyone have any pics of sublety modified ones (not full on euro, etc) preferably in steel grey?
Would you pick one over an Astra Sport Hatch?
Im able to get one for a ver reasonable price but just want a bit of feedback before I take the plunge, as I was originally gonna go for an Astra SportHatch. It would be similar to below, and I would probably go down the BBS wheels and lowered route.:

Ive only drove the Mk5 SDi (slow one) I wasnt keen on the interior much....looks cheap compaired to the Mk4 IMO. Not sure if the GTi ones better.
Reasons to buy over an Astra.....probably retain its value better. Id probably get 5k for my 6 year old Mk4 GT tdi.....could the same for an astra of the same year?

difference would be:
2006 astra 1.9 cdti sport hatch with exterior pack and 20k miles - £10500
2006 volkswagen golf 2.0 sport tdi with 20k miles - £11500 (but could probably get for same as astra)

Going on looks alone, I'd prefer the Astra.
Something for the future i.e. 2nd hand value, go for the Golf.
With cars that price, it's down to how they drive and feel imho.

i could scare you off the golf easily... but they are pretty good cars overall.. its just the handful or so that arent

Personally I don't see where the extra money goes with the golf over the astra or some of it's rivals.
If It's residuals that put you off, how much do the new Civic 2.2 CDti's go for these days? Same kind of residuals as the golf, only they don't look as dull as dishwater...
