Hi All,
Have done a quick bit of googling, but not found anything...
Am looking at putting some alloys on my Transit Connect to try and smarten it up a little bit and make it look a little different to every other van out there lol.
Trouble is, with it being my valeting van, I lug around approx. 500kg, so I need to find some wheels that will withstand the weight of the van (around 1.5 tonne I think) and the weight of the load!
I know Mondeo and Galaxy wheels will fit, but no idea how to find out what their weight rating is.
Is there a way to work it out or a site that lists this sort of thing?!
Cheers
Rich

Most wheels will have the load rating stamped on the back of them, with some aftermarket stuff, you'll be able to ring the manufacturer and ask them.
I wouldn't worry too much, most standard Ford wheels will have a load rating of about 650kg each.

So theoretically it should be able to support the weight of the van and all the gear I carry then?
I've seen a couple of other valeters vans with alloys on and they don't seem to have had issues, so am hoping I'll be ok lol.

You should be fine mate, try and keep the load evenly spread. You think, average alloys take 600kg each, that 2400kg (2.4tonne) spread evenly over each wheel!

The main thing to remember is to get load rated tyres Rich, as normal car tyres aren't designed to carry those amounts of weights.

That's true, normal 'extra load' car tyres should be adequate for a little van though.

Cheers all - yeh I'd thought about the tyres - I'll probably try and get van ones, but if not I'll get extra load ones.
Am hoping to get some 18's on it lol
