you can easily turn that into a media center, buy a slimline case like this:

buy some quiet fans and a PCI TV card (starting from £40), install vista home premium and your away.

The main benefits for me, is pausing live tv, automatically recording TV at the touch of a button, the same for recording series.

I also download millions of films and store them on my NAS, and thus stream video from my NAS to my media pc downstairs. I dont have to worry about file formats as PCs can deal with just about anything.

I've also just bought myself a Linksys DMA2200 media center extender:

which is basically a cut down version of a media center.
Its an extender so it has to tie in with an existing media center to save/load, but ultimatly it can stream videos from a NAS without going through another machine, so this will sit quite nicely in my main bedroom.

You thinking of grabbing a load of PCI(-e) Sat Cards and using them? Or having a sky box feeding a TV card?

Vista Media Center doesn't support DVB-S/S2 at the moment. It's still rumoured to be included in the feature update due out in October...

I use VMC with a Nova-T 500 freeview card at the moment, but also have a DVB-S2 card for watching sat and HD (BBC/ITV etc) with DVBViewer. Will be nice when that works in VMC (you can hack it now, but I want the much more usable built-in support)...

Thanks Tim, I will bare this in mind, think i'll just be switching between inputs on the tv then

It appears that Windows Fiji (new MCE) will support DVB-s/2

Is it going to support the right codecs though as from what I have ready H.264 has been dropped from the TV Pack update.

Also it looks like the TV Pack is only going to be installed as OEM - Wonder how long it takes for it to leak out.

Installed the TV Pack. Doesn't support H264, but the DVB-S integration is very well done. I can still listen to BBC HD audio (and does pass-through DD5.1)
