I have my Grandads RAF Logbook, as well as flying in the Lancasters, he also flew in the Dominie, Proctor, Anson, Wellington (which was almost like an early Lancaster), and a Halifax too, his last entry in the logbook was 31/12/1945 - I dont know if he had another Log book after this, He only died Autumn 2006.

all my mums side of the family have been farmers for hundreds of years so as a reserved occupation they never saw any action. there were afew members of the home guard however.
i remember my grandma's old farm too, being shown around an old barn, being told thats where a number of italian POWs had lived and when they were working on the land.
my dad's side of the family were all in the republic of ireland when the war was going on, some of which were fighting the british, never mind for them

Never joined the infantry mate, it would of been The Watch though . I'm still in my second phase of training as an Aircraft Technician in REME.

I think 7th Armoured was my grandad's division too.
Just been corrected on this.
He was 8th Army, drove Montgomery and also met Rommel. Then worked in the Control Commission in Berlin where he met my grandmother.

Meh, one of my great grandparents was on the famous mission connected with 627 squadron. He was the flight engineer on the plane with the callsign AJ-Z shot down over Emmerich, after missing the Eder dam with a bomb, damaging the aircraft in the process
