Thinking of getting rid of the 106, and getting a Focus ST170... Are they quick? What they like to drive? And you can pick a nice one up for 5k now, good value for money?

Not that quick although a well balanced, responsive and nimble in both 3 and 5dr bodystyles.
Fairly juicy on fuel and band E VED - £210/yr. About £60 to fill up too iirc.
Certainly worth looking at.

Yea iv driven one. Not overly fast but they are pritty nippy. Good fun and handle really well. i also thought the breaks were very good.
PLus its a focus so it should be fairly reliable

My dad's. Picked up for £6k from a Ford dealer over a year ago now. A load of sensors went kaputt and the CAT disintegrated on him, all in all just under £1000 of work, covered on the warranty though and has been fine since. Costs him £250 to service it every year at Ford. Think he said he paid £250 for 4 corners too.
Its been reliable so far, transports my 2 sisters and the dog about, pulls well on the road and has 6 gears if you are feeling economy minded. Ive only driven it once round town but I put my foot down and it kicked me in the back of the head (was driving a 1.4SRi at the time though lol).
His also has most if not all the toys, multidisc changer, air con, heated screens etc. Looks great on the road and is a comfortable, if not slightly too hard ride, but the leather is nice

Also
Insurance Groupings for you - 15 (1-20) 31 (1-50) type E with Security T1
Im not sure if it was worth £6k, maybe it is now its had all that stuff done to it but that was £1000. Probly expect to pay a little bit more for the Ford blue colour, i personally think they look fucking ace in that grey though
edit - because the blue is more popular i would assume
