To get one....

No criminal record
Land helps
Must have a decent gun safe where it's kept

What else?

For a friend btw, he's got the forms, guns and storage just needs licence to go clay pigeon shooting etc.

Tell him to join the clay pigeon club if he hasnt already, and get a decent countersigniture on it. Hand over some wonga and should be fine. Just get vetted and then given the license. Vetting is required each 5 years iirc.

Its a nightmare, you need a certain amount of land (or someone willing to let you shoot on the land), then they need to asses the land. You need to explain why you want to shoot, they will need to inspect your gun storage etc.

"theoretically" they also vet your family, friends, people your in close contact with i.e bosses or co workers......

Not sure if they do or not tbh, would take months and months to do that for every applicant.

They check close relatives and employers/employees too. Usually takes 3/4 months for a new application to go through.

He's got no record, roughly 2 acres of land on a quiet mountain and would be shooting on a farm / not his land.
