depends what you like i guess. i enjoy takeing her down some green lanes etc. so the bikes ideal for me. it cost 2k on a 56 plate pre-reg 07 you could get a good one for 1500. id recommend going to look at a few different bikes at dealers. see what you like and feel comfortable sitting on
mobby- indeed, had quite abit done to it (pipe, bigger jet, race c.d.i, derestricted airbox, carbon reeds...)

have a cg125 myself, as not long since done my cbt.
insurance is only £87 for the year fully comp, thats with 6 points. also only £15 for roadtax
does over 100mpg too, as I did 250 miles not so long ago and used only £13.30 worth of fuel at 118.9 a litre

The situation you're describing why don't you just go for a 125cc scooter? Sounds a lot more sensible (which is what you're after).
The Honda CBR's just look like a mountain bike with fairings and as for the chinese bikes....................reliable

RE Test hardness
Yes it will improve riders. A bike test simply means you can get on a bike, change gear, brake, accelerate, and use the road. It doesn't teach you how to RIDE a bike. That only starts when you pass.
So any more technical skills, making it harder to pass, making it more expensive, gets rid of "SOME" of the chavs and muppets who are starting to jot up the death rates.
I can see the UK going like France in the future
Its just a shame they won't do something like this with the car test, gawd knows THATS where the real problem lies, but making that harder would create to many arguements and give bad face...
Rediculas.
Personnally, if i was young, I would buy a better bike and have it restricted. Bags more torque, a proper bike, get used tot he weight etc....
SV650S is still the best sports entry bike. Easy to limit, easy to modify, plenty of upgrades, good forgiving engine, great twin sound, cheap on insurance. 45-50mpg, winner all round.
Screw poncy 125's and their lame rebuilds
