alright, i'm after a toyota supra. Don't know whether to go for a single turbo, twin, or even just the 3.0 n\a. Are the automatics any good? Anything i should be looking out for? Are the engines any good? You can pick them up for 4k now seems cheap!! I'm 21 with 4 years exp, no claims. Will insurance rape me? Cheers

Expensive in every respect, i'd go for a tt over a n/a as they both drink petrol and you may aswell have the proper one As regards going for a big power single turbo jobby, suppose it depends on what you are using it for.

Imports had better brakes than UK spec ones iirc.

I've got no experiences of Supras, but i'd stay away from the automatics unless you're a lazy driver.

they are fairly expensive to fix when they go wrong, but thankfully they don't go wrong to often, quite strong bloks and the autos are ok, just got to make sure there is oil in the box. Manuals tend to be shredded when they run big bhp, i would say get one! Expect to be hit hard for insurance, and have a few 100's back for if things break, also go for the single t if you are money consious, as they do tend to split the turbo seals...

If im right, the newest ones are 'L' regs which makes them 14 years old - and they are usually ragged to fookery. And has been said, gang rape on insurance, garage forecourts and they are probly quite inviting to thieves too

Any car that's close to 300bhp is gonna be an expensive fucker to run and fix. Goes without saying.

not really, cars tend to mechanical weak points don't they?

what i mean is, they are strong engines, not prone to breaking, loads on the market so pick a clean one.

My brother was paying £1100 a year fully comp when he was 21 with 3 years NCB with Liverpool postcode, on a 3.0 N/A Auto, although it felt "quick" it wasnt anything special, very bland inside but did have a full leather which many dont have, I think they look a bit dated now, see a few floating about round here. It was also very tail happy in the wet

You also need a box of tissues for the parcel shelf and a cd hanging from the mirror.

at the shite in this thread....

The manual 6sp Getrag gearbox is very strong!!!

The auto box again is strong and VERY good.... quicker to change than manual. Only avoid it if you are dead against auto's... BUT if you arent that fussed, or havent tried it... try it. It has Manual modes.

Single turbo 'splitting seals' bollox.... a turbo is a turbo.

4k for a TT - dreaming, its either a con, or a wreck.

L reg is one of the early ones.... the were still in production about 6 years ago

Isn't the turbo cheaper to insure for some bizarre reason? Sure I read that somewhere anyway

Then they'd murder him on a 320bhp 3.0 TT
