Beacause they clearly favour him because he's British (Scottish), just like they did with Tim Henman
I don't doubt some people like him as a player, but he wouldn't have half the fans he has at Wimbledon if he was French, spanish, italian or any other nation IMO

He's the British number 1, there's no good English mens tennis players therefore the crowd root for him. Not rocket science really.

yaaaaaaaas come on, never really liked tennis but this game was good.
In general scottish people say they are scottish not british because people abroad think scotland is not a different country to england
eg someone said scotland was a city in england
