It's quite poignant, there are tributes set into the rock dedicated to people who have died (not necessarily on this face) and crosses at the tops of some of the outcrops.

That's the type of face i'd love to abseil down rather than climb up 
Ironically i believe abseilen, the word that is derived from, is the German 'to rope down' if i am not mistaken.

Seil is rope, abseil is "rope off" or similar.
