Brabham used the BMW M10 (1502-2002, E21 and E30-316)motor as a base for it's BT52 F1 cars. It is 'rumoured' that they used pre-stressed blocks from 1502 BMW's and some say they left the blocks out in the open to further weather them, though some pundits disagree with this.
Named the M12/13 it ran at 11000rpm with a KKK turbo and could handle 1100 degree temperatures, at full 2.9 bar boost the car exceeded the dyno's capacity of 1280BHP though it ran at around 700 in race trim. It was a 1499cc motor running 6.7-1 CR.

This is the best side...

The rules were, 1.5 for forced induction. 3.0 for normally aspirated.

Is that the engine they used to use in the F1 cars from the 80's?
My uncle has one of those old F1 cars. (in pieces, thanks to the turbo lag)
I'm sure his is a 'Heart' or a 'RAM'.

oopps, yeah, thats what i meant.
My cousin had it down a Knockhill for testing a good few years ago.
As far as i'm aware, he was coming up to the end of the straight, and the turbo finally kicked in. Sending him flying into the tyre wall.

You should see all the engines like this lined up at the Nurburgring museum jr.
Take some tissues.
