some of you know me and the missis are planning a scenic driving holiday through scotland..

i just wondered, i dont have any breakdown cover at the minute and i really want to be covered for when i go up there.. so i was just wondering if any of you guys knew if there was a cheapish company to over me..

all i want is if i breakdown they will transport me home, not bothered about homestart or anything like that.

why dont you leave it, then if you do breakdown, you can become a member there and then and they come out once you joined up.
if you dont break down, save a bit of money?

because it costs a fair bit more to get cover and a call out straight away
We did it once and I think we paid about £100+ more than normal

Take it out just before you go, you get a 14 day cancellation period, if you don't use it just cancel it

No it doesn't, you can save a few pounds by doing it all over the Internet but I'd rather take the chance personally!

Can't cancel if you've used them though (funnily enough lol)

Roadside Assistance is basically what it says, you get assistance by the roadside. And if they can't fix it, they'll take you to a garage etc then you have to consider whether they are open.

You need 'Relay' (as it's called with The AA). They'll take you home, or your outward journey location if it can't be repaired

best I have dealt with ( and we deal with a lot at the garage) are green flag. put down a low annual milage and a goo level of cover starts at £70. one custome had this and they paid for his phonecalls, recovery of the car to a garage his overnight hotel stay and even his bill at the restaraunt for the meal!

If your parents have cover, you can be added to their policy for not a lot, and get all the benefits.

I'm on my dad's, costs £25 extra or something, I have Roadside, Relay, Homestart. Interestingly, my card says I joined 1983. I was born in 1987
