Im on my mums insurance policy and when we took out my first policy they asked her if she had any NCB (she has 7 years) so she said yes but they asked her to prove it. But she couldnt as she has a policy on her own car with a different company and they wont give her proof of NCB unless she wants to change policys..
Now, when one of my mates got insurance on his dads policy, they asked him if he had NCB, hes got 10+ but then didnt ask for proof, just put it through
What im getting at is, if i take out my insurance online they dont ask for proof, so would this be illegal? Or can somebody shed some light onto anything.
Sorry for the shitty wording, i just wrote it as i thought it in my head look:

Aren't you only allowed to use your NCB on one policy at a time?

Thats what i thought, but like i said, the company that me and my mate are with didnt ask him for proof, and he's paying nearly half of what i am a year

some companys want proof so your not making it up, like mine this year they needed it (swift cover) and my mums on my policy didnt need proof of hers just mine as its my policy.
all previous companies iv bin with never wanted proof this is the first time.
if the company requires proof then your still insured but say you have an accident and you still havent proved your ncb then they can turn around and say they're not paying out.
if they dont require proof then your insured as normal
hope that kinda makse sense

It's a technicality I wouldn't mess around with tbh, as I wouldn't want them to decline payment in the event of a crash.

first year = prudential (didnt like modded cars )
second year = rac (charged 10% per mod limited to 3 though )
this year = swift cover (stupidly high excess think its something like 900 but its the only way i could get my insurance to the price im paying

You can only use ncd on one car......why I have no idea, probably just another reason to extract more money from us.
Looks like your mates got away with it.....

But in all seriousness.
Apart from... HIC, Quinn, Bell and Endsleigh.. Who else insures modded cars?

Adrian Flux, Tesco and AA.
Im 20 , 1 years NCB, MINI Cooper 2002, Blue fin chip, £800 soundsytem, induction kit, alloys, tints, cat back.
On my own name £855 with the AA.
Alot of companies say they dont insure monds but when you phone up they do i.e AA.
Most will put them on the policy, But they will replace them with OEM parts as opposed to aftermarket. Almost all insurance companies will not replace aftermarket parts.
Phone the AA mate, For £855 im getting Free breakdown, free HPI check for my next car, a courtesy car and only £200 excess.
