I payed 2,400 for my W Reg corsa sport, aircon, airbags, FSH History, (58k when bought) 67k mileage now all the 'mod-cons' on it.
If i put a redtop engine in do you rekon it would decrease the value of the car, being a higher mileage, older engine?
Im guessing id have to remove the air-con and maybe airbag?

Not sure it would really de-value your car. May finder it harder to sell on. If you are worried about de-valuing your car then don't do the conversion. Perhaps an already converted corsa would be a better option.

Yes the AC does need removing, theres not enough room in the bay.

It will make it less sellable to the masses, you also won't recoup the cost of conversion. You would be better selling yours and buying one done if you are worried about losing money imo.

well in that case it depends really.
whether you find a buyer who wants an xe corsa or not.

I reakon it would de-value it if you just bolt an old redtop in.
Get a decent redtop with history (doner car service book etc) then it's a different story IMO.
You may find theres less of a market for a 2.0 Corsa when it comes to selling it mind.

Taking into account how much u paid for the car,the time u get an XE conversion done u wont get the money back uv paid all in.
The only way u can make money on a Redtop conversion is if u can pick up a cheap, clean enough corsa then add it all up and see what u think itl be worth after the conversion.
I know i will make money on my XE corsa if i do sell it.

Just sell your car as is, and buy a decent redtop. You'll probably gain a few pennies depending on how much you get for the Sport!

I beg to differ
May decrease the value, but it wont decrease the selling price in some cases.

You never get back what you paid for the mods when selling a car.
End of the day any car is only worth what someone is willing to pay.

I again beg to differ.Ive done it numerous times.
Best 1 is my old Astra GSI V6.
Bought as a standard, immaculate Redtop on an M reg for £1000.
Spent £800 max on it and got back £2500.

Re-build the engine to a high extent and you're effectively putting in a 0 miles engine so nothing to worry about. Though it is a bit of a niché car...

no he wont get the money he put in to it back but who on here after what they have spent on wheels/airdams/buckets/spray jobs etc can say they have recouped that, why should engine conversions be different??
i think the market is smaller but as long as the conversion is a good one and the car is in excellent condition i see no reason for not getting normal rate if not more if the buyer respects what cost went into the build
