Just got a letter through the door from them with a brochure inside..

Near enough spat my lunch out reading some of the shit they are trying on...

Philips 32" Flat Screen
Cash Price £703.29
Weekly payments of - £6.49
Total Ammount payable - £1012.44

Thats fucking insane, No wonder so many people are in debt.

Another example:

Vogue Dining Set 4+2

Weekly payments - £11.17

By the time you've payed it off you TV will probably already have a Wii controller through it and your corner couch will be cum stained, Yet you've paid hundreds more. Crazy.

for some people, on-tick is the only option to get nice things
sure a loan would be cheaper, but they're more effort to obtain.

One of my mates bought loads of stuff from there...

47" Philips TV
5.1 Panasonic Surround Sound System
etc.

I asked him how much it costs him over all, and he answers "just a few pounds a week". When I asked him how long he has to pay for, or what the total payable is, he has absolutely no idea. He just pays it. I think he may have also bought a PS3 from there.

His mum buys all the stuff for the house in there. In the last few months, shes bought a cooker and sofa that i am aware of. Its disgusting.

You'd be stupid to want to be a part of that.

Same with that www.webuyanycar.com I mentioned the other day. They offer you nowhere near its value, why would anyone accept that. Though they must do otherwise they wouldnt be in business.

Some people are beyond me!!

Its all good saying 'its the only way hard up people can afford nice stuff'! Well whats ever happened to making do with what you can afford & if you cant afford you cant have. Absolute thick as shit tbh!!

Also these adverts saying 'we can guarentee a loan of between £500 & £25000 instant desision' etc - they should be banned, people are too weak, loans should be means tested & only given if you have a proven track record & can easilly repay what you borrow.

UK is fucked!!

I just had a look @ the webuyanycar website, and just out of interest i got valuations on 4 of the cars in the family.

The real total should be about £105,000

They offered a total of... £39,000

So technicaly, a £66,000 profit for them! What a fucking joke!

Anyway, i totally agree about how easy it is to get into debt.
I got offered a credit card by the Clydesdale bank when i opened an account, and was told it would be good for my credit rating to show i could manage a credit card.
Well that all went tits up. I ended up running up a £1400 bill and then losing my job. The interest then went up to something like £2400 after a good few months of not being able to pay anything.

Thankfully its all paid off and i'm 100% debt free. I've also learnt my lesson and i never want to be in debt again.

Yeah webuyanycar is a joke......how do they run a business, they advertise on TV ffs so must be bringing in some cash in order to do that. You'd need to be totally brain dead to agree to sell your car for a fraction of its value.

They offered me £3k for my Golf GTi, even if I was desperate for cash I know I could stick it on AT for £4.5k quick sale & it would be gone before the weekends out!!!!

Madness!!!

i fell into a similar trap with credit cards, but slowly dragged myself out of it.
It's all too easy to get sucked in, and the lenders rely on that fact as well.

these high APR catalogues and stuff are actually a lot more manageable though, so true you could still get cariied away, but if you get something and just know that 'x' amount is leaving your account for it each month, it's not such a big deal.

not dis-similar to buying insurance on installments really, but obviously the interest isn't so high with that.
