Anyone who has changed the engine size on their v5, have you needed to provide proof of the engine size? i.e. a receipt for the engine change, a report from the AA or RAC or written confirmation on company headed paper from a garage?

Insurance is sorted, just for the v5. I rang them before I sent the changes and made sure I had everything that was needed, they didn't mention sending anything extra. But, have received a new one back without the changes done, they didn't even bother to change the colour
Oh, to add to that. On the letter it says "When you have obtained the evidence required it should be re-submitted in the pre-paid envelope enclosed".... there is no pre-paid envelope.

If you up the capacity DVLA will not ask for anything extra apart from the V5 info.
If you go down in capacity DVLA will ask for proof in writing because you may be trying to get cheaper tax, how you do this is get a letter from the person/garage who did the engine change.

If you do need to write a letter then its quite easy, I can send you have a simple template which you can either take to the garage and let them sign, or make up one

you only need proof of engine size if you are going from a higher tax band to a lower one, ie 1.6>1.2 or something equally mad

Thats becuase your not changing tax class.
RobHayes-DVLA also randomly ask for evidence when going up a class too.
They asked me for it, and quite a few of my mates.
Going from a 1400 to a 1600/2L

Easy done. I went to local DVLA office, filled in the changes on the V5, handed it in and job was done. Told them the engine number was 'unknown' and they were fine with that too.
