Long story short, I have a car that has been written off, but has a 3/4 tank of diesel. In a few weeks it's going to the scrappys anyway, and I really don't want that diesel to go to waste with the current price of fuel.
How would you syphon diesel out of a new style Ford Fiesta? It'll be going straight into some spare tanks for use if I ever needed it, or maybe just straight into the astra.

Poke a hole in the bottom of the tank.

you dont have to inhale it. short sharp blast will do it. you can plug the hole with your tongue whislt you breath out.

(Good idea John, never thought of that)
I heard there was a method of using two hoses, one to blow into the tank, and the other to syphon it into a container... But I assume that blowing into the tank will just make bubbles?

You wont be able to syphon from the filler neck as there will be an anti syphon gaurd in there.
You'll need to pop it in the tank directly by taking the hose off that the filler neck is attached to. You'll need to jack the car up really to syphon it into there are the tank needs to be higher than your container you are filling, obviously.
You can get a jiggle pipe to do it which has a one way valve which fills the pipe as you jiggle it up and down. However I have had nor luck sucking with those You don't inhale the air, you just suck and blow out...

you could remove the tank i suppose. then you dont have to worry about storage containers.

I'd cut the feed pipe to the rail and crank the engine to pump all the fuel out

A petrol tank won't explode unless it's empty, if there's plenty of petrol in it it's not really dangerous at all.

Petrol steam coming off of the tip of the drill bit is still scary

Dad colelcts writeoffs etc, and takes the fuel out and cuts the cats off before he scraps them.
He use to lift the rear seats up and get into the tank that way when made a makeshift pump to suck it all out.
Now he just uses his truck to lift it up and chisels through the bottom of the tank and lets it drain out into a container. He's not blown himself up yet

There is the easy way of making a hole in the tank.
And yes theres a syphoning block but all you need to get round it is a widow washer motor some pipe and a bit of wire to connect it to a car battery
