Anyone on here planning on attending the graduate fair at Earls court on the 3rd/4th June?
Just wondering if its going to be worth going to. If I do go is it a good idea to wear a suit or just dress smart?

I've been to the one in Birmingham before. All the generic boring business students wore suits. All the cool designer types like myself work smart clothes and got frowned at by the boring business types.

I got an email about this Doug, I'm tempted to go. Wanna meet up and wander around?
Do you have to register / does it cost to enter?
I'll just wear what I wore on placement, black shoes, black trousers, suit jacket, shirt, no tie.

We could talk about the 'ring and the merits of torsion bar rear set ups vs non-torsion bar rear set ups.
I think I may go, worst case I have had a night down in London, best case I get a job out of it
I registered on the site to get myself a fast track pass.

ah right, fair distance for you is it?
I just get on a train and i'm there in about 25 mins.
Just had a look at the companies attending.
Only ones I can see myself giving 2 shits about is Logica and Accenture.
Plus I don't want a graduate job till after I've been travelling.
I may go down and have a word, I could do with pissing about in london for a laugh - I'll see what the weathers like, if it's not raining I'll probably go.

Depends if you want to get on a grad scheme or not.
Grad schemes didn't really appeal to me so I gave stuff like this a miss.

I want to get a job that gives me lots of training as tbh you don't really learn everything you need to know in uni. You learn the theory behind stuff but not actually how to do it.....

To be honest, after working for a year on placement, I don't feel I need to start at the bottom, I could've quite easily gone into a job straight out of that placement, after working with people and thinking 'I could do your job'.
However, I'm just thinking from a getting a foot on the ladder / few years experience under the belt, looking for a 'graduate' position rather than a normal job may be better.
My biggest concern however is that I'm going travelling and won't be returning till around christmas time, so it's pointless trying to get on graduate scheme's starting in september as I won't be here; however, I don't want to not be able to find a job in the new year, due to all the jobs being taken already.
What do you think James? Do I stand a ok chance of still being able to find a job after christmas?

Well you would have to wait for next years batch of grad schemes.
I got a normal job rather than a grad scheme as I knew exactly what I wanted to do and a lot of grad schemes just kinda put you in a role.
