I actually said if space stopped exapnding, not the universe.
Space and a Universe are different things.
The universe is expanding (or collapsing) into space. This is possible because there is space and time (because of the ever expanding space) for it to do so,

The universe is everything, including the space in it

There are possibly multiple universes in space. The universe we are in is at least 156 billion light-years wide. And what do you think that is in? And what is it expanding into?

No there is one universe that has everything in it.
Since you like wikipedia so much, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universe
And the definition of 'universe' is everything.

It might be the definition of everything, but that is probably because space it literally nothing. It is the infinite extension of the three-dimensional region in which all matter exists.

If you went into future could you change the outcome of your life, as it is going to happen anyway, if that makes sense

that's quite an edit, nice copy from the free online dictionary.
I wasn't using wikipedia if that wasn't sarcasm btw, blukoo had used it previously.
Wikipedia is also a fine source of information if you aren't an idiot and can work out the difference between real information and somebody taking the piss and it's also very easily confirmed since the internet was graced with a thing called google.

Yeah i added the,
"It is the infinite extension of the three-dimensional region in which all matter exists."
I couldn't put it better myself, so why try
Edit: I used wikipedia earlier to back-up the fact that the 4th dimension is sometimes refered to as time. Which it is, and not just on wiki.

Mate I think you're talking about a Galaxy, not a universe
Our Galaxy is the swirling thing which we are a part of.
There are many galaxies throughout the universe.

It doesn't expand into anything, there is nothing for it to expand into.
It doesn't expand into something outside the universe, there is nothing outside the universe.

Just incase you don't get it...
Planet -
Solar System -
(this is the sun we revolve around).
Galaxy -

Our solar system is in the galaxy (milky way)...
There are many galaxies out there in the universe

Yes most of those are galaxies, and this is only a tiny bit of the sky.

The argument you are using contradicts your 'theory' though

There has been debate about how there might be more than one universe.
Obviously its neither confirmed or denied, hence the reason i used the word, "Possibly"

Correct, there is nothing for it to expand into. It expands into nothingness... space!

It doesn't expand into space, there is nothing there, not space, nothing, it does not exist.
It may be a bit difficult to get your head around but thats it.

As to how it contradicts, i'd say
'It is the infinite extension of the three-dimensional region in which all matter exists.'
Confirms what I said, that the universe is EVERYTHING, not that the universe is everything but the space outside of it.

No one has ever been to, or seen to, the edge of the universe, so no one could ever say what is at the end, what it expands into, or if there is another one next door.
There was a time they thought there was just the one glalaxy because that was as far as they could see.
I have my theory that i'm sticking too. You guys have yours. To be honest, i'm happy to accept that you don't accept mine. Its just a pain in the arse we'll probably never know for sure.
But for now, as far as i'm concerned, there is something outside of the 'universe' which i call space because it is a vast area of nothing-ness waiting for something to fill its void.
Edit: We'll probably just end up going round in circles, but if you guys really feel the need to, we can continue this tomorrow. I'm goin to bed now. My brain is tired

The theory of what i'm talking about isn't my own, it's based on what i've read from the best minds that have ever been on earth, i'm sticking with them tbh.
What you call the universe is again, up to you, i'm defining it as what it actually is, not what i think it is.

You're defining it as what other people think it is...
