Relax, take a chill and don't worry.
If you were to have been caught out, you would indeed see two very bright flashes.
All that is in the top of the lights is a sensor. As the others have said, it only dectects traffic movement, so aiding the flow of peak time traffic.

Nah, you'll be fine. Anything mounted on a traffic light cant catch you, The black box is a sensor for controlling traffic at night so the lights no when traffic are waiting.
This is the camera that catches you going through a red light and has a luminous backing like a speed camera and is usually positioned 10 ft before the traffic lights.

This is a speed camera and can be anywhere but cant be near junctions i.e traffic lights controlling a junction.

Im sure your familiar with all of this anyway, Just trying to put your mind at rest

They are microwave sensors that count the number of cars waiting or see if people are crossing the road at a crossing so that they can time the lights.

No it doesn't work because they work by bouncing a microwave off of your car and back at it. Visable light isn't a microwave so they can't sense it...

Or most likely its a micro thats bouncing off your car and it a coincidence that you flash your lights at the same time.
