Ok, before I begin, I know this will have been posted before probably countless times. To stick with the times, though, and market values I've decided to make a post regarding this.

Seen as I killed my car on sunday (a Megane valver - needs a new sump etc which is the final straw with it so it's getting fixed and punted)

So I've been thinking about what to replace it with. I love Corsa C 1.8s - they look smart etc, have enough power for me etc - I don't have a family (yet) so size isnt a concern.

Wondering though, what's the value of these? I'd look at any age depending on mileage.

Also, what are the pros and cons of them? They reliable enough????

Cheers guys

ps I don't post on here much (been a member since 04'), but I look at the forum here everyday, as its a lot better than most!!

The post-2004, so the facelift is a much nicer looking car. It has updated alloys, mirrors and stuff. I have no idea if the engine is different.

I also like the idea of the 1.8 C SRi, but in the current climate, I'd also consider the 1.7 CDTi, but obviously depends on the mileage you do.

For a decent facelift one, you're looking at atleast £5k upwards, for low mileage etc.

ChazSXI got a 5 door, pre-facelift one for £1800 however. Pre-facelifts are nice, but look dated imho compared to the facelifts.

And check Stavs project

So they're reliable enough? I usually aim for a 4 year change over with cars.. if they last the distance i'll buy one (if i can find any for sale close enough to me!!)

all 1.8 sri engines are the same the z18xe, which in turn means if anythying fooks up parts are easily accessible. my temp gauage plays around abit. never goes higher than 90, and a few i know have had the EML light come on. yet nothing wrong with the car

ive had mine for hmmm 2 months now, and never missed a beat for me...that with 74k on the clock!

mine was v v v cheap. a proper bargain. think the pre facelift and 5 doors put people off, was an ebay deal. I have seen other Y/51 regs go for around 2-2.5k, with facelifts starting at about 4k. The very late prefacelifts from 52 onwards have the sri spoiler/mirrors/wheels before that they basically look like an sxi!

dont be put off with prefaclifts they are the same really except for as mentioned the little extra bits(you can easily pick them up!) and also the prefaclift can have facelift bumpers fitted, although the rear needs the facelift arches the front goes straight on!

0-60 in 8 seconds and i average about 38mpg and mixed urban/motorway driving.

heres mine atm, which in total has cost me about 2.5k inc the car and all mods!

hope this helps!

I had mine for 18 months and the mileage went from 6,686 to 40,789 in that time. It was redlined all the time, to and from work and used for enjoyment at the weekends, the only servicing it got was regular oil and filter changes, I never touched the coolant in that time and it never once felt like it needed anything!

Decent cars, my sis has one. Reliable, quick-ish, decent enough to drive. Not bad at all.
