a friend of mine has just bought an astra gsi mk3 but its a 1.8, i only thought they did the gsi in a 2.0 red top

the eraly ones were 2.0 redtops but due to the crazy insurance hikes of the late 80s early 90s car manufactoures calmed down there version of 'hot' hoatches
the astra then came in 1.8 and 2.0 ecovalve and also changed to a sprt later on IIRC

its an l reg, he says that they made the gsi in 1.8 and 2.0

They did make a 1.8 Gsi and they look exactly the same as the Redtop version.

yes they do, the only difference is the redtop had the foggs it the bumper where as the 1.8 echo didn't. everything else looks exactly the same

My cousin owns a Redtop and a 1.8 and they look exactly the same bar the fogs.

 who cares if it had headlight washers or not, the fact is the gsi looked the same but didn't have the same engine.

theres a few little things like headlight washers then, which i'm sure is wrong anyway as my cousons old one had them and that was a 1.8 echo, interior wise i didn't know there was anything different as they have the same seats and the trip computer

Nope,the 1.8 gsi's never left the factory with headlight washers.Never had eleccy mirrors or traction control either.Nor did they have the stitched gear gator.
