My cars booked for its mot tomorrow & ive just had a quick check over the usual bits that would be stupid not to check before hand & the spare tyre looks on the limit on one side, I might whip it out & not risk a fail.

I take it you still pass if you've not got a spare, nothings changed I dont know about?

spare tyre isnt testable even if it had no tread at all

I thought if it was in the car & bald it was a fail, however if it isnt there then its a pass

unless its mounted under the car and is insecure so could fall out

i took my car 2 times without a spare tyre and passed both times

no spare or spare doesnt matter as its not tested

I have a spare in the boot, its on the tread limit though, one side possibly verging on ilegal, seems its not tested though

Ok wish me luck nothing else needs done. I know the arb bushes are fucked & need replaced but hopefully thats all!!

Yeah I know Jades mini has a compressor & a can of spunk, handy when it doesnt have the run flats fitted anymore!!

I thought 'if' you had a spare it has to have legal tread. But it seems im wrong, which happens from time to time

Ok so i'll maybe get an advisory? Thats alright, I can live with that, I couldnt live with it failing & having to arrange another loan of a car for a retest.

Exhaust blowing - cat<ctr pipe.
Handbrake inefficient
Rear O/S caliper seized

Just letting them get on with it, i'll get the car back tomorrow with a yrs test & few £££'s down!

£86 for a genuine caliper from VW, + couple hours labour.
