Went there some years ago and i liked it. Depends what you want to do. I always like the north coast of Devon and Cornwall.

If you're going to the beach try and park in the national trust car park. Can drive away from the town a bit and pretty much pick your own piece of beach away from the crowd

Amazing Beach The sand is ace.
I've been there quite a few times. Going there in August too
It's quite busy by the shop but if you walk down the other end there's loads of space.
Nice area too, Try Ilfracombe

Dad's side of the family all live in Ilfracombe so been going down few times a year, every year since I was born.
Absolutly love it,so chilled out and theres some amazing spots to go when the weather's nice, can get quite busy in the holiday season but you should be fine if your going soon.
Some nice places to eat and go for a few drinks, try the Damien Hurst restaurant in Ilfracombe (beers really good),The Red Barn in Woolacombe and the Gurka (sp) in Ilfracombe.
Hope this helps

i holidayed there as a kid and still go regulary
as said woolacombe bay is lovely, as is ilfracombe, also check out croyde and braunton, both are nice little villages and croyde has an amazing beach
if your planning on doing any bodyboarding or surfing your best trying croyde or saunton sands, but the locals should point you in the right direction
