Vinegar is slightly acidic, though, so will work. It's quite often in window cleaner (the green stuff in squirty bottles) so you could try that.

Boiling water to soften it followed by neat screen wash and clean rag and some patience.
Oh and it's remedy btw.

autoglym insect remover has worekd best for me .. tried vinegar but you smell it for ages
