when refurbing wheels is it best to get them sprayed or powdercoated ?

Powdercoating, would have thought it was a more durable finish.

Powdercoat them. Much harder to chip them.

About £30 to £40 a wheel...

45 pound per wheel onwards is what i got told yesterday.

i just had my cav gsi ones done all for 130 but he was a friend of my dads, he said if any mates want them done 45 pound a wheel

makes the finish much more durable and chip proof

Thought all powder coated items have to be baked for the powder to harden and go from matt dull finish to shiney.

Yes, and if it doesn't get baked you are left with a wheel covered in dust that will fall off when the electrostatc charge is turned off.

The powder needs to be at 180 degrees C to cure, this can be done with an infra red heat source which will heat the powder but not the wheel. Baking, and getting the wheel to 180 as well will give a longer lasting, more durable finish


I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.
