I had real bad tonsilitus a few years ago, one tonsil was so swollen I couldnt talk as it was trapping my tounge. also had really bad fever and coudlnt swallow water or anything, just remember spitting in a bowl next to my bed, as I couldnt move.

Went to doctors and they sent me to the hospital, was on a drip with anti biotics to get rid of the infection, had a blood test and they said I had glandular fever and to take 3 weeks out of college, had 2 days off got bored and went back, never had a problem since. People who had glandular fever I found were normally always off in school, didnt seem to effect me after the tonsilitus.

I had it when I was 16, knocked me for 6!! Lost a stone(I only weighed 10 stone anyway), and felt lethargic all the time.

I had it a few years a go (when I was at school), struggled to eat and breath at the worst point ended up getting rushed to hospital and a three day stay.
Had 8 weeks off and 6 months from strenuous activity. I also got lock jaw, swollen spleen and a nice lump in my throat, not fun.

Sounds very similar to what I had. I never went to hospital though, but probably should have because lost about a stone on a week and a half because couldn't eat or drink. I guess the only good thing about it is you can never get it again!

That was what I had (quinzys) couldn't remember the name.
Was on a drip for 3 days, I was so drained it took the doctor 40 minutes to get a needle in my hand for the drip, my hand looked like a pin cushion and ached for ages, O and being on the drip gave me chronic diarrhoea .
Had two minor ops on my throat while I was awake to help me breath and then eat again (after two weeks), it was pretty scary at the time though.
I can remember eating again for the first time and it was a bacon butty that me mam brought up from the hospital canteen.
Felt full after that though and couldn't eat anything else which I found weird.
I feel for anyone who has/had/gets it, it was probably one of the worst parts of my life.

Don't worry about it, I had a pretty extreme case of it, but some case can just be like tonsillitis .

I had glandular fever in school and ended having nearly 2 years off. (Had a home tutor in the 2nd year). I had constant headaches, being sick a lot, no energy - some days I couldn't even lift my head off the pillow.
It also took 3 bloodtests before it showed up
