[QUOTE=Austin_Nova16]Thanks a lot for the comments! :thumb:
Always help to keep the motivation up! WIth PV only a month or so away, theres still plenty to do!
Progess looks quick, but thats only because it always takes me ages to get the pics up! lol

The RWD if still going strong...was leaving black lines around most roundabous and junctions in w.sussex last weekend! Bloody dangerous though! lol

Onto the saloon. Spent satarday in the workshop next to where I work putting the beam together. They've got some nice heavy duty steel workbenches to bolt all the stuff down to jig it up and keep it straight.

I wanted to make a beam for it, as the std nova beam seemed to sit up flat againt the chassiss leg when it was right down, plus I wanted to really stiffen up the rear beam by havibng the cross-bar going from wheel top wheel instead of a foot infront of the rear wheels (making it twist a lot easier).

So welded all the tubes, turned ends and laser/plasma cut bits up.

And then trial fitted it up to the car

Then took it off to give it a lick of paint:

Now just need to make up some tophats for the rose joints, new discs/bearings etc and i'll bolt it on for good
Thats it for now.
New headlights came through today, so will be fitting them and finishing the enigine loom thsi week.

Arghh Austin's new project. Been following this on PNG site. Austins RWD Nova has been around years It was built using parts from his local scrap yard, bits of Capri and all sorts on it (I think the rear axle is an "English" whatever that is from when I spoke to at USC a year back.) This guy is serously talented when it comes to fabrication!

Top Bloke!!!

As far as im aware, and could be totally wrong, but the english axle is linked in any way or has the provision to 5 link/watts link it, so can suffer with axle tramp ?

also iirc, they usally have quite a diffrent diff, mostly 4.1, and iirc not particular strong

The english axle (escorts and capri's) and the atlas axles (capri's some with lsd's as standard) come unlinked but can easily be adapted to take 4 link bars and a watts linkage or single bar (panhard rod) to reduce the axle moving and twisting under strain

Im intrested to know what Austin is running on the nova,

He could be running a shortened 2.8 capri axle with standard lsd

or a english axle with expensive lsd

You can link any axle within reason heres a picture of mine when i first picked it up its a capri 52" thick tubed atlas axle with coilover brackets and 4 link brackets (ones circled)

I have the watts linkage cover to go on the back of the axle aswel which connects to other mounts infront of the boot floor so then the back end of my escort will be 6 linked
