Hi All

well just when today couldnt get any worse, went to fill my car up and seen the local paper

to cut a long story short,my friend along with 2 mates were involved in a car accident on june 6th 2007.my friend and his mates died at the scene, the guy in the other car was not wearing his seatbelt and died 3 weeks later.his wife who was also not wearing a seatbelt is in a wheelchair.

I personally went round raising money for my friends to have a memorial bench placed at the local mcdonalds (no slagging please) as its were he and his mates used to go. i got £556.00 in total and the bench will be there this june hopefully

(ME WITH BUCKET IN FRONT OF MY FRIENDS CAR AT MEET)

a few pics to fill you in

THE MEET 3 weeks after in june 2007

paying respect

the lads in question and paper pages

then the inquest was a week ago today

after revealing that no one was to fault due to blind corner where accident happend, the paper write this.

im just annoyed how the paper have blatenly(sp) blamed my friend as they were young.

heres the paper article

What was the result of the inquest?

Terrible tragedy regardless.

I'm not been funny mate, and you may be right they had nothing to do with it and may be innocent.

But have you thought that they could of been in the wrong, and they're not just getting blamed because of their age?

I've only skipped through the artical, as i can't read much of it. Sorry if i've missed some facts, and was a terrible shame for the guys that lost their lives, and their family.

If you know you are 100% then complain to the paper!!!!!! Thats a terrible tragedy and if it genuinely wasn't your friends fault then they should not be blamed in the media!

yeah i know what you mean alex but the inquest had revealed that no one was to blame as its a blind corner.they used the guys statement saying my mates were speeding when it had noway of seeing round the corner to judge.i heard the results then the paper says that.

Yeah it seems that younger people are easiest to blame and its not always the case. Collecting money for a bench was a really good thing to do, very respectful.

Well surely if the inquest found no blame could be apportioned then the paper can't print it?

TBH the paper has only published the quotes from other people, I dont think they have come out and said themselves that this was the cause.

yeah agreed - theyve only printed though what they want to hear.his family are distraught over the news as i can imagine any family would be.but to wake up to that on the door mat was abit harsh dont you agree?

Agreed its harsh, very much so, but I'd blame the people giving the quotes rather than the paper for printing them.

So you're disputing that one of the cars was on the wrong side of the road?

They crashed head on?

For this to happen someone must've been venturing onto the wrong side of the road?

If you had to paraphrase it into a headline how would it have read?

"Death crash car was on the right side of the road, but it was a bad bend & one may have taken it slightly wrong (but we don't know which one)"

They have to summarise these things. What does the article say about the whole wrong side of the road thing?

i know what you mean matt.i found out the morning after the crashthe road was still blocked off.it was like a shock to the whole town and surrounding villages.the marks on the floor from where the cars hit were still on the floor.it was as if the mirrors clipped or something.noway a head on.the corner is sharp and covered with trees overhanging so blind for anyone,i may even get a pic of the corner tomorrow to show peeps you got no chance seeing whats coming.just seems they blame my mates for being young without calling them "BOYRACERS" when they were just going for a drink to watch the england match! it even came out that the other car had 3 people in,2 of which were not wearing seatbelts and attending to thier dogs who were barking in the back.

So sad More young lifes ended in a car crash. There was 2 of my mates killed in a crash a few weeks back and every one says my mate Jordan (driver) was a so called "boyracer" by the local paper but he never ever drove fast because the car was his pride and joy then unfortuanately one morning traveling to edinburgh he had a blow out sending it off the road and 10 foot down in to a ditch my mate Jordan died instantly and my other friend Ashley had severe injuries and died in hospital 2 days later R.I.P

I'm not going to disagree that that was a tragic loss of life from all parties....

but:

quote:
Collision investigator PC Neal Westwood told the court that there was 'insufficient evidence to calculate the speed at which either vehicle was travelling'.

But he said: "The Rover was unable to maintain its position on the correct side of the road.

"At the point of impact, the Rover was on the wrong side of the road.

If that quote went into the inquest, then the paper is quoting the 'facts'....I know it's terrible to lose mates like that, but if thats what the inquest found then thats what goes out into the public domain.

Shitty to hear no doubt, but It's even shittier nobody survived on the #1 car to put their point across in terms of how the accident happened.

RIP to all of them

I cant believe the three lads in the car died but that there were survivors in the other car - especially with them not wearing seatbelts!

rip to all
