Hi,

I own a vauxhall corsa b 1.4 8v
it is corsa van (not combo type)
and i am wondering why its got a rev limiter on it, it tops out at 4500 rpm.
can and is this easy to remove and why is it there what is the porpose of it

so you dont blow your engine up i guess. why dont you change gear then you wont have to remove it.

if it's hitting the limiter at 4.5k, then it sound's like it in limp mode tbh

no ecu light isnt on.....and what does limp mode mean....

The engine management has noticed a fault with the engine and has effectively "shut down". Basically enough to get you to a garage to get it looked at, sort of a protecton thing.

Should be able to do a paperclip test for free though and to save you the rate of labour to plug it into a machine.

or maybe its had the clocks changed if its a modded car?

if its totally standard then I suppose not

i changed the clocks to ones with the rev counter... could this be a problem

yes, did you get teh clocks out of a 1.0 12v by any chance

cant remember m8 got them out of the scrapyard...if i change them back to my original clocks would it make a difference....
