Sounds a bit propagandaish to me, get the guys fired up before they go out there. Give them a reason to fight.
As for the mobile thing, I think its more likely they get names of soldiers and intimidate the families that way, can't see them conducting electronic ops like that.

100% true unfortunately, in Iraq anyway. A clients son in the UK was stationed there and said the same to me about 18 months ago.
What is reported in the media is nothing in comparison to what actually goes on there, so the baby thing wouldn't surprise me whatsover.

Thats bullshit. I served 5 months in Iraq and just over 3 months in Afghanistan and never once seen that or heard a story of it! Keep it in mind that squaddies will tell a lot of made up storys if they have had a boring tour.
