Hi people,

not so long ago I made a thread asking about what car my mate should buy for a "project" in the summer...

Now he has told me he is very interested in Nissan Pulsar's

Just wanted to know if anyone here has any knowledge/experience of them and what to look out for???

Thanks

Ash

my dad had one, tuning capabilities is immense on them, they can run ridiculous amounts of boost on standard internals. biggest let down is the gearboxes made from chocolate

all in all though if you find one with a quife your laughing

it's best to upgrade the internals before high boost time and get a front mounted intercooler, also as said the gearboxs are not great also a better clutch s needed and the brakes are crap

Buy a stock one, not a modified one. Much safer that way.

Chances are it will need a new clutch anyway as people can't help but launch these things really hard.

lol the reason the brakes are so shite is cos nissan got a sunny gti (20 16v) fitted the 2.0 16v t lump but never upgraxded the brakes lol

if ur mate needs any parts like panels wheels, upgrade parts etc let me know as i used to work with a guy who breaks them for a living, so can get hold of pretty much anything sometimes even has aftemarket parts liek suspensiona nd exhausts etc

lol this is true u can use many nissan brakes but to be honest if u looking at gettin some big power out of them spend the money well and get 4 pots as they will stop standard engien well and keep working when ur running stupid power and boost

engine rebuilds are only due to poor modding. A stock SR20DET thats not driven badly will be fine

Ive just sold mine and to say im gutted isnt a lie.
Theres alot of horror stories about them but if u look about and pay good money for a good example u WILL get a good 1.But if ur looking at 1s for like £1k,dont expect it too last long.
Ok on standard internals u can run up to 400bhp IF its set up properly i.e fuelling and the likes.Standard T28 will be maxed at 350 tho.The SR20DET is a good engine but it needs to be looked after with regular servicing and oil changes. The gearboxes are quite crap but as i said if u get a good 1 thats been looked after it will be fine. The reason they break is new owners tend to launch them from 6k and above on a regular basis resulting in it firing cogs thro the casing. But tbh u dont need to launch them unless ur on the 1/4mile.
Also the standard brakes are crap but u know that anyway.
If ur buying a standard 1 and are planning to up the boost to 1bar u will need an organic clutch, walbro 255lph fuel pump, cooler plugs,FMIC(not essential but standard TM does suffer from heat soak) and possiblya bigger bore exhaust and filter.
To give u an idea i just sold mine for £3500 and it was well specced with all the right upgrades to make it a very cappable fast road/track car.Infatc i let my mate take it around Knockhill a few months back and the only thing keeping up(he couldnt pass tho)was a E46 M3 CSL thats up at every opportunity whereas my mate has never driven the track.
Mines was running a safe and proven 313bhp and 276lb/ft at 1.1bar.It was insanely quick.
Pics......

They are not the best looking cars, but thats what makes them desireable.U dont know what it is till uv had ur doors sooked off.lol.

Was about to say, they are hardly the worst looking cars ever, infact I think they are old skool cool, bit like the old Polo's (G32 or something??)

Edit - G40

Ive had 2 and never had a single problem with either of them one was standard freshly imported the other was modifed and been in the uk a while

If I had another id go with the freshly imported one as the bodywork was immaculate, get one thats been in the uk a while and its more likely to be rotten, they are old cars now remember!!!
Plus they are ragged about more here where as in Japan they are 10 a penny and also limited top end.
Likes been said you look after the car and it will be fine!

Best car ive EVER had TBH

Are you serious?

Standard set of discs and pads all round are best part of £200

my brother had one which we built upto 400bhp with not too much effort (bigger tubby, fmic, fuel pump, avcr, emanage blue, exhaust etc, etc.....) brakes are poo, we put hi spec's on his and as for clutch we opt'ed for a decent helix and it was fine! it ran 12.3 1/4 mile

Comments like that come from people who have no idea about the cars.

clutches go for a reason

they are designed to be used... they are a consumable like brake pads..

run too much power/torque that its designed to do and it will slip.

supporting mods
