Hello everyone I'm Phil, I've been browsing the forum for a couple of weeks but only just registered lol, anyways I am 17 and have my test booked for the 6th May and I want to get a Corsa B for my first car and I need some help on which one I should get, I don't want a 1 litre and I don't want anything above a 1.4. I will probably be lightly modding it ( alloys, induction kit, exhaust and sound system ). I will have £1100 to spend in about 2 weeks. Please could someone point me in the right direction?
Thanks in advance - Phil

My first car was a 1995 1.4 8v LS and it did me proud for 3 years including a year while i was learning...it stood up well to my learners errors and then some tough driving...wasnt too bad to insure and tax was quite cheap too
Good luck with your test

I will be going on moms insurance but with Direct Line so I can still build my NCB up as a named driver, cheapest quote I've had is £380 for a 1.2 Sxi or Sport can't remember. Thanks I hope I pass I've passed two mocks anyway up to yet lol.

choose a car you'd have get the cheapest quote then ring ask them if they do pass plus discount. it may not be worth doing if it saves noting on insurance

Thanks, I like the look of the black corsa, I've been looking into 1.2 BHP figures compared to the 1.4 and even though the BHP on the 1.2 is only 45, is it enough for me? I'm not a speed freak I'm just used to driving a 1.8 now I suppose ( AA Learning car which is a focus lol )

Yeah a lot of people have been saying that to me lol but I suppose it's true, I'm not always going to have an instructor sitting next to me with his pedals to save me.

yep, that's when the learning starts
As for insurance, insurers love 17 year olds unfortunately I paid 900 quid TPFT on a 957cc fiesta (my first car!) 26 now and insurance is pretty cheap.
I'd probably stick to a 1.2, fast enough to start out with

Try to get the 1.2 16v mate, its 75 bhp rather than the 1.2 8v with is only 45 bhp.
The 8 valve does the job, but it is really really slow, although on the upside I gave mine death from cold pretty much all the time (I've learnt now ) and it never once broke on me, the only thing that packed up in 2 and 1/2 years was the alternator and fan switch
