Legally u should pay tax on tips as they are classed as an extra earning. We were given the choice of what we do with ours we can either keep them or share between other members of staff.

To be honest tho there isn't really much she can do

Starbucks shops in California are getting shafted for not letting their staff keep their tips. They have to give them back, it amounts to something ridiculous like $200million.

Also says that she should be paying tax on any tips she receives

If she sorts her own tips at the end of the day/night then they don't have to but if the boss sorts them and pays them out then they have to pay tax on them.

Wrong! its still classed as income wether she splits it or the boss splits it and as such she should pay tax on it. It doesn't matter who splits it.

Tips are harder to trace anyway, thats why in the food service industry I'm fairly sure you are under a different tax code which takes account of a level of gratuities, regardless of wether you declare them or not

I was told that by my old boss, they have to declare the tips, but we didn't, probably just the boss being dodgy.

On the note of barbers, at my local barbers there is three of them, one of them has got an Alfa, a Rangy and a newish ducati, another one has got a ferrari, and the other has got a M3 and a superbike that I cant remember.
