Quick summary:
Part time job 17-24 hours a week bar job with paid holiday.
Got a call this morning saying the boss has been looking at hours and there aren't enough to keep me on. If anything come up he'll let me know.
I thought legally you're boss has to give a valid reason?

Have you got a contract with basic hours on it? Not necessarily the full 24 per week, just showing you are contracted to 10 hours per week or so?

Hmm, sounds like she has no comeback then.
It may be worth ringing the Citizens Advice Bureau to see if she is entitled to a redundancy package?

Yeah thought that was the case. Oh well plenty more bar work out there and her boss was an arogant twat anyways.

The usual excuse in a bar/pub is that they are overstaffed and will have to let them go. Hence redundancy.
