Ok scenario is I have a Sony Ericsson W880i and an o2 online contract which I am eligible for an upgrade on 14th May 2008.

My SE had a little incident and now the camera doesnt work and the phone doesnt hold charge for more than a day and a half despite me getting a new battery for it.

I went into Phones 4 U today just to look at phones as I have no idea what I would get and this guy approached me like they do and we got talking. He basically said they would give me £70 to buy out of my current contract and give me a new deal so I thought ok I will go home and ring o2 see what they say.

Now ive been with o2 online for a very long time and I was hoping they may do something to keep me. But I was wrong they said deffo they wont do anything until the 14th May He also said that he has never heard of phone companys offering buy outs and he doubts I will get the money.

So my questions are has anyone else successfully done a buy out?
What would you do in my position?
And what flipping phone shall I get?

Back the truck up!
Mother Flipper!

Erm I've never heard of networks offering buy outs?. I'm also wondering what type of deal and phone, phones 4 u are going to be offering after giving you the £70. I'd sell your current phone for some cash. Use that cash to pay towards the monthly bill/s until May. Then take out a new contract now. It's what I've always done and I've always had enough to cover the monthly bill/s and get a few accessories for the new phone. I aint paid fully for a mobile in about 11 years.

K850i, N95/8GB are popular as always, Viewlty if you want a touchscreen and 5MP cam. Next batch of new phones probably won't be out until Oct now.

It's only the same as the deals P4U do wher you get £100 cash for getting a contract with them, except yours obviously isn't as good

They give you the cash. Simple as.

I'd opt for a deal with a free PS3 or Wii or something tbh. Worth a lot more resale value if you didn't wanna keep it.

Guy at O2 is just some minimum wage bellend. Take no notice.

Pretty much what I did.
Im paying £40 a month for unlimited texts and a massive amount of minutes which ive never used with 02. That came with a nintendo wii and 12 month contract.
(i could have saved alot more if id opted out of the wii and an 18th contact, but that just didnt appeal to me).

Brett

Hes doing his job

With Orange and o2 if you are not in the designated period to upgrade, then you cant. simple as. Being with a mobile provider for years will count for squat im afraid. Only if you spend ££££ a month will they care.

If you took insurance they will have replaced a faulty handset and it will be covered under warrenty. So get it replaced or repaired and upgrade when you can.
