not gonna comment on vtec to much i do think its very very over-rated but does not mean it is not a good system, i drove a civic 1.6 16v 160bhp model with vtec and i was disapointed alot of noise and not much go.....
driven a type-r also and once again good alround car but overated, but good on honda for convincing young lads you can accelerate to the moon when vtec kicks in

Some cars you are doing a ton before you realise you are doing it.
I like the sensation of going fast even if it means i'm not going 'as fast' if you see what I mean

i agree, but when we went past a scooby at 100mph quite easierly you may change you mind
fucking
I wouldnt laugh actually, mines got minced on the motorway by a CTR belonging to the garage I go to for servicing/repair.
Did have a Jackson Racing SC right enough. Love that car. It skins most things at Knockhill!!

Dont doubt it colin, wasnt laughing at that
Typical cs repsonse though, anyone could fly past anyone at 100mph could they not, regardless of what car they were in?
and would yours still have got minced it if had the same amount on money init as the civic?

i would love a vtec, get them 'chipped' and you can lower and widen the vtec to 5,000 to 9,000rpm on the tyre R
its just a totaly different driving experence, which some people dont like
I owuld not lower the VTEC too much as you lose too much oil pressure

I ain't going to bait at the scooby comment
I'd really like a CTR or S2000 with a supercharger though after owning a few cars both non turbo and NA i'd still go for turbo.I find the need to rag a car to get it moving tiresome after a while!
Even simple things like moving away at lights or junctions etc is were the torque takes over not just cruising.

I thought I would miss my love for turbos when I got mine. Wasnt the case, it was a right laugh imo. Lack of torque wasnt a massive deal, just adjusted my driving style to suit.
What have you got now Byron??

My impreza was 250bhp+ (Never had it back on the rollers after fitting 3" Downpipe, Stainless header - turbo pipe, STi ic). Not sure what that would be at the wheels it was pretty quick off the mark. This CTR was 220bhp at the wheels, it absolutelly trounced me!

well i went with my brother in an EK9 (1998) as he's 90% buying one soon and i was impressed.
Was running 192bhp and yeh, up to 3.5k did feel sluggish for the power figure, but when it got going it was more or less just like my nova (when it works ),and better higher up in 3/4th.
Guess it jsut depends what you want, i'd prefer the civic for everyday ragging.
For a 1.6 im very impressed.
