my mate is looking for a new car below the 8k mark, he is going to look at a fiesta st 7k on the clock all the usual goodies at 7995 at a dealer.

opinions on the car and any other cars he should consider?

I like ST's alot I just couldnt buy one as I would feel disapointed by the preformance and think I should have got something else.


What about its rival hatches like clio 182 and CTR etc

Not a fan of the ST at all. Their not that quick and for the money he could drive round in a 52 plate Civic Type-R and still have some change left.

Didnt like the fiesta ST, not that quick yet drinks petrol like theres no tomorrow.

Road tax is high aswell.

Driving position, personally, is uncomfy and really hard to see anything when reversing.

I'm biased but possibly a C2 1.6 GT

It all depends on how much he wants to pay for insurance and running costs.

hes testdriving it today, i dont think he knew about the running costs, hes jumping in abit im trying to talk him out of it.. i even suggested a nice 45K a3 but nooo.

if its a 1.9 tdi a3 then he's a mug for not going with it.

like i said, make him drive a 1.6 GT C2, it'll shock him how nice it is compared to the Fiesta ST, and how much more roomier it is inside.

Or even as gavin said whats wrong with a 182 ?

I think everyone is missing the idea. My guess is he wants a fast car that doesnt cost the earth to run....so s2k and elise is kinda ott imo
