If you built a car, for arguments sake that only cost you a grand, is it wrong to sell it for 2 grand?

I had my car up for sale, a bloke that was interested in it had looked thru my posts on various web sites and found out it only cost me £700 ish to build it so he only wanted to pay me that for it, obviously I never sold it to him but it got me thinking......

Don't be silly, obviously if you cant sell it for what you want you have to drop the price but get what you can for it thats what I say.

when your going to buy a car do you care how much/little the previous owner has spent on it or do you look at the car itself and decide if your happy paying X amount

I've highlighted a big point that says why he is wrong, it's cost £700 to build plus the time and effort that it's took to build. Tell him were to go

Should go into a showroom and tell them you will only pay them the price it cost them to build

What about the hours of labour you spent on it?
That costs money ffs
My old man built a willis jeep replica and sold it for alot more than all the parts cost.

Two ways of looking at it, one is that you shouldn't profit out of buying to sell on unless you're in business doing it and can offer some backup. The other is that it's worth whatever someone pays, however different that is to the price you paid.
Ultimately it is up to the buyer to decide what they want to pay. This guy obviously doesn't want the car.

Have you ever watched auto trader mate, on disovery auto every now and then, entirely about buying and rebuilding cars for profit, nothing wrong with it at all. As everyone says, labour costs etc. all add up.

I wouldnt take any notice to be honest, that guy is obviously a penny pincher trying to get the car he wants for less money by any means necessary!
