My grandad wants to go on sky, anyway my dad was reading through a mag and noticed a sky advert, sign up a friend and get a 50 quid voucher, so thought he'd kill two birds with one stone, well he thought anyway...

The whole process started at 7pm tonight, he rang up the number on the advert, 5p a minute.

He was in a queue for 30 mins being charged the whole time, when he got through to somebody they told him to ring another number. He rings this other number, and they tell him hes got to ring a different number.

So he rings this new number, and gets through to someone, who says they can help, just as hes telling them his details they cut him off.

So he rings back, this time the person says they cant help and to ring a different number, they say they cant transfer him. So this being about the 6th different number hes been given rings, and yes you guessed it, its the wrong department.

So they give him another number to use, which takes him back to the same service desk he was on hold for in the first place, another 20 minute wait and gets through to someone, who says they cant help and they try to give him a different number.

This time he says he wants to speak to a supervisor, and suddenly they offer to magically transfer him, he gets transferred and this time they do manage to help, this being a whole 1 and a half hours since he made the original call!!!

I suspect it may be a scam by sky to make it as difficult as possible to claim the offer thus making people think fuck it we'l just sign him up normally without the offer.

What do people think? might be worthwhile writing something to Watchdog incase there are loads of reports

seen it on the tv earlier, thought it was too good to be true personally.

also said ''can get as many friends as you like to do it'' which sounds a bit iffy

i work for them, you can sign up as many ppl as you want, but because of this they have been inundated with these offers, you will get them but you might not get them for a couple of months.

to be honest, most of the ppl who work at sky are fucking morons anyway, that dont have a fucking CLUE!

is he all sorted now? coz if not ill call him back on friday..

basically, what your grandaddy needs to do is call sky and just book it as normal, then he needs to quote your daddys account number to tie them in together. but he needs to do this on the SAME call.

job done, sky setup any sales agent can do it.
